I had almost forgotten what a simple pleasure it was to setup two speakers and just listen to music. No fancy DSP or bass management schemes. No APP to download. Just hookup a CD player or turntable and listen to the music. Bluetooth streaming is easy, convenient and sounded fine for everyday listening. Yamaha has taken a decent stereo receiver and made it eminently more useful and enjoyable.

Share on Facebook Technics home stereo systems might seem dated now, with their tape deck and phono connections, but Technics doesn’t cut corners with quality. If you have one of these old systems, there’s a good chance it will still work well with CD and DVD players. Just as with any surround sound system, you may choose to connect two front speakers and listen to audio in plain stereo, or you can connect a full 5.

The back panel will now come off, but be careful because the plastic piece is connected on the inside by a few wires that are glued in place. You can move the back panel from side to side or spin it vertically to give yourself room to work. Get those speaker wires The inside of the Crosley is fairly empty, so you can see all the way to the speakers at the far end. Just reach in with a pair of scissors and carefully snip each of the 2 wires connected to each speaker. One pair should be red and black and one pair should be white and black.
Gently grab the four wires from here so you can pull them through the bundle of wires in the center and out the back of the unit to work with. Attach the line-out converter Carefully strip the end of the four speaker wires. Check the instructions that came with your line-out converter to match up the wires on it to the wires from your Crosley. Remember that from the back, the speaker you see on the left is the right channel, and the speaker you see on the right is the left channel.
Twist each pair of wires together as tightly as possible, and then wrap each connection tightly with electrical tape. At the very least I would recommend not soldering until everything is together and tested. Test and adjust Now that the converter is attached, plug in the Crosley, attach rca cables to your receiver, soundbar, or whatever you are planning to use , and turn the unit on. At this point, if you are happy with the sound, you can move on.

But does it equal them in sound? Its reasonable price will satisfy those looking for a fully automatic turntable that produces great sound. Deconstructing the Denon DP F Vintage Denon turntables tend to be either semi-automatic or automatic, and Denon have continued this trend with their new offerings. Also included is a cueing lever to allow the user to select tracks on the record, a must for any good automatic turntable.

At random times the pitch changes up or down, and when I try to adjust it the pitch control acts hypersensitive. An almost imperceptible movement swings the pitch wildly, and it’s really tough to get it to stabilize.
Or is it a failing part that must be replaced? Can an untrained but game layman fix it, or do I have to hand it over to a pro? Polished the cover which had no cracks or serious scratches. Just did a general cleaning, installed and set-up a new ADC cartridge, balanced the arm, set the tracking and anti-skate, and took a trial run with some of my favorite vinyl. It was simply delightful with perfect pitch. I wasn’t used to that with my old Thorens. All the automatic features worked great, and it shuts off automatically.
How to Record Vinyl Records into a Computer
How do you hook up a 1 farad capacitor to your amp? Answer 1 You first have to determine which side of the cap is positive andwhich side is negative. You run a wire from the negative side tothe chassis and …for the positive side you run a cable from thebattery to the terminal and from the terminal to the amp.

The OC Hankster said: So, just spilt the outputs from the turntable? Why, I don’t know. I S’pose either way will work, huh. This is usually not a good idea. For starters, cartridges like a specific amount of capacitance and resistive loading. If you ‘split’ the outputs to two preamps, your capacitance will double and your loading resistance will be cut in half. This may or may not cause problems depending on the output impedance of your cartridge.
A low output impedance cartridge will likely handle this, but a high impedance certainly will not. Going straight to the better of the two phono preamps will maintain the correct loading on the cartridge and the tape output will provide a fine signal for the second receiver. This output will likely be much less sensitive to loading than would the cartridge.
This will basically route the output of the better phono preamp throuigh the second receiver which may yield as good or better results than going straight through the second preamp. Of course if you do this, your interconnects from the first tape out to the second receiver input may come into play.

The best turntable you can buy
Whether you’ve inherited your father’s vinyl collection or you’re an audiophile that just prefers the sound quality of records, chances are you’ll need a good phono preamp to connect your turntable to your modern stereo system. If you’re planning on hooking up your turntable to a stereo receiver, you’re going to want this preamp to get the high sound quality that you expect from vinyl.
Do I Really Need It? Most likely, you do. The majority of newer stereo receivers lack a phono input, which would directly connect them to the turntable.
I nixed the headphone hook, but that is something you can easily add if you so desire. I made mine taller and wider so I could fit a larger receiver between the records and the turntable. Plus, I increased the height of the record shelves to accommodate larger box sets and added vent holes for the amplifier.
I removed the case for cleaning just prior to powering it up and taking these photos. A little wasted effort as you’ll read below. What happened to the days when stereos were considered furniture? It was dark oak in color, had intricate lattice grills, and weighed just under 4, pounds. This massive, beautiful beast kept many a house party going until early morning, or so the stories went. When not in use, it was indistinguishable from a wall cabinet or large hutch.
